
Bob Lonergan
Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing and Risk Officer
Bob Lonergan is Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer at Assurant, Inc., and a member of the company’s Management Committee. In this role, Bob leads Strategy, M&A, Assurant Ventures, Risk Management, AI, Data Analytics, Experience, Marketing, Communications, and Sustainability—driving long-term value creation, accelerating enterprise priorities, deepening consumer insights, and elevating brand relevance across key stakeholder groups.
Bob is focused on amplifying Assurant’s strategic momentum, driving innovation in go-to-market strategies, and evolving the client delivery model to unlock global value. His leadership aligns transformation efforts with market dynamics, stakeholder expectations, and long-term growth objectives.
Since joining Assurant in 2012, Bob has led more than fifty M&A transactions and growth investments, helping refocus the company’s strategy on global housing and lifestyle markets. He also led the transformation of Risk Management to best position the company to handle future risks and uncertainty.
Prior to his appointment as Chief Strategy Officer in 2016, Bob served as Senior Vice President of Growth and Innovation, where he established a ventures team to invest in early-stage companies. He also served as Vice President of Sourcing, creating an M&A sourcing function aligned with strategic goals.
Before Assurant, Bob worked at Bain & Company, where he helped launch the private equity practice in Atlanta. He began his career at Credit Suisse First Boston as an M&A analyst.
Bob holds a Master’s of Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Davidson College.
